Laverne Schell Tool Library

A tool library works like a traditional library, but it lends tools instead of books. It’s a great resource for people who want to use tools, but don’t need them (or have a place to store them) all the time.

The Laverne Schell Tool Library, the only program of its kind in the state, lends out home repair and gardening tools to Springfield residents and community groups. Membership is currently $30. You can borrow up to 5 tools at a time and keep them for one week. We also offer Tool Library-related events throughout the year such as a quarterly Fix-it Fair.

The Laverne Schell Tool Library is located at the O’Reilly Center for Hope at 1518 E. Dale. The Laverne Schell Tool Library is open by appointment only year-round. Make an appointment by emailing toollibrary@cpozarks.org or calling 417-888-2020 ext. 128. When you arrive at the O’Reilly Center for Hope for an appointment, please stop by the front desk to check in!

Joining the Laverne Schell Tool Library is simple, and your membership fee helps purchase, maintain, and insure our tools. Are you planning to do-it-yourself for a long time and save money? If so, consider joining the Laverne Schell Tool Library as a lifetime member for only $300. Additionally, gift certificates to the Laverne Schell Tool Library make a great gift!

Thanks to the support of local community members and businesses, the Laverne Schell Tool Library’s inventory is constantly growing. Check out the current inventory of tools available for loan here!
